This page is about playing a video game. It is not medical, tactical, or safety advice for real life, and nothing here should be used as such.
In one line: the medic goes to the casualty, or takes them in at the casualty collection point, treats them, and either sends them back to the fight or asks for them to be moved.
Watch out
Everything on this page is about the game. How treatment works depends on the medical system our servers run, and none of it is real first aid.
What you do
- Triage: decide who is treated first.
- Treat casualties with what the game's medical system gives you.
- Recommend where the casualty collection point should go.
- Help move casualties, under the platoon sergeant's direction.
- Guide the platoon's combat lifesavers, and help train them.
- Keep the platoon's medical supplies stocked.
Where you are
The medic usually stays with or near the platoon sergeant, on foot or in a vehicle. Either you go to the casualty, or the casualty is brought to you at the collection point.
Combat lifesavers
A combat lifesaver is not a medic. It is an additional duty for someone in a fire team, trained to do more than buddy aid and to keep a casualty going until you arrive. By the book a platoon tries to have one in every fire team.
What good looks like
- The platoon sergeant always knows how many casualties there are, and where.
- The worst hurt are treated first.
- People who can fight are back in the fight quickly.
What you carry
Kit
The medic's bag and a rifle.
Who you work with
You work with the platoon sergeant, who runs the casualty collection point.
By the book
From ATP 3-21.8, paragraphs 1-43 and 1-46 to 1-48. In the manual the medic is attached to the platoon from the battalion's medical platoon.
